I have been reviewing my files and found this image I took of the Columbia, SC temple from the side. I love the soft evening light on the western side as you view it peaking through the trees. It is available in my Etsy Store. Although not listed, we could make cards, wedding announcements, Save-the-Dates, etc. from this image. Just send me a note.

I almost missed the spring time here in Georgia. I left for Brooklyn on March 20th as it beginning to blossom and returned in April when many of the blooms were gone. A couple of days during April in North Carolina allowed me capture these images as their spring comes a bit later and thus many plants were still in bloom.

Unfortunately frosts and storms and heavy rains took their toll before I had taken many images. I am not sure what this white bloom is. Please add a comment if you recognize it. I’ll be posting a lilac tomorrow.

A friend had a surprise visit for Easter when her oldest daughter and son-in-law who are out-of-state came to visit. We worked them into our schedule for a family portrait. We enjoyed the evening and their energy.

I have been away for quite while and not kept the blog up, but I have a good excuse! Our second grandson arrived in March almost two weeks early in New York. While I was there my daughter Julie and I set up a studio “of sorts” in her apartment using bounce light from my strobe and window light. Although we very cramped, we did get some awesome photographs. We enjoyed trying on darling knit hats that a friend had made for the baby. I wonder what he will say when he’s grown..”awe Mom did you have to put me in those hats?” But for now he’s too young to protest. As always images p0sted here are for you to enjoy looking at but not to copy.

We ventured out on the coldest day of the week — below 40 and with the wind chill factor it felt like 30 degrees. But young love keeps them warm without jackets, etc. These two shots were on the Savannah River and were near the end of the session, so our couple did decide a jacket might be thing to do at the end. We plan to do some more shots as soon as the weather is warmer and their schedules allow. It’s been a cold rainy January, but we are grateful for rain in Georgia these days. These are two samples from the session.

Warren and I decided to get actively involved in Charitable Photography during 2009. We just learned we have been accepted by Think Pink Photography which was founded in 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. Through ThinkPink Photography , a charitable organization and network of photographers, we will helping breast cancer patients, survivors, and their supporters to celebrate life with photography sessions to document the fight before or during treatment and/or to celebrate the victory when treatment is completed. Participating clients receive complimentary sessions and a set of twenty (20) small prints from their sessions. Additional prints, if ordered, are discounted and there are opportunities to donate portions of sales to help families in this fight. Donations and funds generated through various fund raising efforts of Think Pink and Think Pink Photographers are made directly to The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation in Atlanta, Ga. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting education, increasing awareness, and providing support and resources for families who have been touched by breast cancer and is a registered non-profit organization. See www.beverlyfamilyfoundation.org for more information. If you are breast cancer patient or family member you may contact us regarding a session at info@geitgey.com. We will be participating in other ways for non-patients and family to contribute to the cause through our photography sessions and services. Visit the Think Pink Photography site by clicking here on the banner.
Check back to learn about other charitable photography organizations we will we working with in 2009.

We are pleased that a number of our photographs were selected to be used in the Town Planner Calendar which is circulated in the CSRA fall. This is a great calendar with useful information about community events and coupons, too. The Southern Magnolia Blossom on the cover is one of Ruth’s floral art prints. Ruth is currently taking an online class with an artist in New York, Patri Fehr who has a unique way of capturing flora for prints and other types of images. Check back into see her posts as the class progresses.
As you open up to January it features icy holly berries that Ruth, who is also called Gigi by associates in the art/photography world shot during an ice storm that we had a few years ago. Lately our winters have had very cold days, but not much in the way of scenic precipitation! March is a pasture scene with horses in rich greens and takes you into spring that Gigi also shot. May honors our veterans with an image of a young cadet visiting the traveling Viet Nam Memorial which was here in Augusta last summer. The memorial is truely a remarkable monument and evokes emotions to all who visit it. We were fortunate to have it sponsored and brought here to Augusta again. The image Ruth submitted was selected, but Warren’s image of Fireworks from the 4th of July Celebrations on the Riverwalk were featured in July. December featured the Gate Keepers House at Savannah Rapids decked out with Christmas lights and ribbons.  We’re already planning what to submit for next year!
The images above may vary from the exact ones in the calendar. The calendar images were all horizontal due to formating requirements.
Prints of the images can purchased by contacting us at info@geitgey.com.

This image was taken several years ago while visiting SLC. I’ve been reviewing my files and re-organizing them this weekend and came across a series I took with my Fuji camera of the famous Beehive Door Knobs on the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. The Temple was opened and dedicated in 1893, so these knobs are well over 100 years old and described as being made of solid brass. I thought you might enjoy seeing the details.  These brass knobs have been reproduced as paper weights as well as the entire doorknob and plate replicas are available and are sold in some of the stores in the area. I am also thinking people who were married here might like note cards with this image on them. What do you think? I am going to have this printed on metallic paper. Please note the reminder not copy images on our website as they are copyrighted and belong to us. You may contact us if you are interested in ordering one at info@geitgey.com.
To the right you can see how large the doors are by the way
they dwarf the door locks and knobs. I read the doors are 12 feet tall and 4 feet across. The medallions are detailed as well quite beautiful. I plan to post more images I took in the galleries soon. The door are actually made ofwood, but here they appear to almost be made of a metal.

I love this “painted” image I just did from a shot we took at the zoo of our grandson.
Digital enhancements and paintings are more than just pushing a key and running a filter. They are painted by hand, it’s just that your brushes and colors are digital. Many painters start with a photograph to work from and digital painters are no different in that respect.
I put a watermark over his face lightly. Unfortunately we have to protect our kids and work from folks who cllick and take images without asking.

I thought this was a primrose. Someone else said hibiscus. Do any of you know? Please leave a comment on the post if you have an idea. Please don’t let the watermarks on our images distract you. They are not on the final prints or canvases. The original photograph is also posted here for comparison.

We had our daughter Julie visiting for the past two weeks and grandson, Peterson. We had the opportunity to take them to the Columbia Riverbanks, Zoo for a visit. Peterson enjoyed feeding the giraffes. Julie said the giraffe feeding was better than the San Diego Zoo had. We recommend you make trip to this zoo. It’s just the right size. The lions roared for us much to Peterson’s delight.

I thought we start a post to share images around Augusta, Georgia and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).
The first image is a view of the tree lined walk way at the Levee on the Riverwalk in downtown Augusta. On Saturday mornings there is a Farmers & Artisan’s Market. Also below is the amphitheater on the Riverwalk with a view of North Augusta. Many boat races and rowing events are held here â™ on the Savannah Rive each year.

Here is a definitely in love young couple we had the privilege to photograph during July. I used a template designed by Danella Miller for the “Album” cover with a favorite image taken on the backyard swing.

Last Thursday night we did a family portrait indoors due to the extremely hot weather we are experiencing in Georgia. The three little ones are under six years old and they are looking forward to a new sister within the next few months to arrive. As anyone knows who has sat for a family portrait getting five individuals all looking at the camera and their with eyes open is a challenge. We also did the family group, Mom with each of the kids, Mom & Dad, and Dad and son, etc.    Here a few previews today and check back for a few more tomorrow! .The kids did well considering the youngest was starting to get sleepy. These wouldlook awesome as gallery wraps on the wall! I’ve posted one as it was shot, and then as a gallery wrap cropped to a 24 by 18 (or it could go 30 by 20 or even larger!) Below is tightly cropped 30 by 24 image.

Just imagine how exciting it would be to be on the cover a family magazine! This family is a natural for doing just that.

I just received an e-mail asking me if I have images on canvas that she could buy of flowers to decorate her walls. “Yes,” I wrote back, “we have quite a collection of flowers and such for wall prints. What color or type of flowers do you like?”  But since is 2 am I will wait until tomorrow to look through the files, but I immediately thought of these beautiful pink calla lilies.

Call for submissions:
Don’t you just love all the splashes of color that the brides are incorporatinginto their wedding attire? Recently our daughter was in a wedding where all the bridesmaids chose different styles and bright colors of shoes to go with their navy blue dresses, which were all different as well. It was a nice twist on seeing three to a dozen ladies dressed in the same dress, shoes, bouquet, etc. Many brides are letting their bridesmaids choose their own dresses and shoes as well as to choose something they would wear again.
So stay tunned to see what color this bride’s shoes are!
And we’d like to start a “bride’s shoe collection” here, so send us a small web sized file of the bride’s shoes from your wedding or one you shot
(please respect copyright only send a file if you are owner of the file–it was taken by your in your camera).
