The time of year that the weekends book up quickly is approaching. Autumn in October and November can be beautiful around here when the leaves turn bright colors. There are only 13 weekends until Thanksgiving and after Day Light Savings Time rolls around the days and the afternoon available “sweet light for outdoor portraits ” is limited as sunset comes earlier and the sun goes down quickly. (We do not shoot on Sundays.) The weekend sessions are the first to get booked.

We are pleased to announce that Geitgey Photography has partnered with a company that has been in the handbag business for a long time. They offer a  line of bags featuring your images transferred onto microfiber by the dye sublimination process. The dyes, and therefore the photographic image, is permanently a part of the fabric panel. My first bag is a tote bag, but actually also could be used as a diaper bag, but since I don’t have kids in diaper, I’m just calling mine a tote. It’s about 16 inches across and 14 inches high. It has neat side panels that hold my water bottle that I always like to have with me. The inside is large and roomy. I have my “So Kissable” business card collage of our grandson on panel and a head a shoulders portrait of him on the other side. Honestly, I sometimes think he’s sitting right there on the table or wherever I set my bag down. This is a great bag and could easily be your carry on luggage on the plane. It’s a one of a kind, too!

We can order a bag from your own photographs or ones we have takne.   Professional copyrighted photographs must be ordered via the photographer. If you have quality snap shots or images you made in your own camera those can be evaluated for sizing to be put on the bag.  Look for more information to be added to our blog about styles and prices.

In today’s digital world it is easy to make copies. Just because someone has the equipment or know how to make a copy of a design, photograph, software, song, movie, etc., does not mean that it is legal or the honest thing to do.

I thought it would be interesting to share some of the current issues in the art community involving abuses of copyrights and digital piracy. Using someone else’s images to make new prints or copies or redistribution of items or images for free or for profit is like taking the leather from a shoemaker’s shop without paying for it or getting permission to have it (in other words theft.) Regardless the product made from the leather, it is still theft to take the leather. The same applies to making copies of images by scanning them or right clicking them or making screen captures of the Internet.
