Unique Doorknobs on the LDS Temple - Salt Lake City, Utah

SLC LDS Temple Door Knob ImageThis image was taken several years ago while visiting SLC.  I’ve been reviewing my files and re-organizing them this weekend and came across a series I took with my Fuji camera of the famous Beehive Door Knobs on the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.  The Temple was opened and dedicated in 1893, so these knobs are well over 100 years old and described as being made of solid brass. I thought you might enjoy seeing the details.   These brass knobs have been reproduced as paper weights as well as the entire doorknob and plate replicas are available and are sold in some of the stores in the area.  I am also thinking people who were married here might like note cards with this image on them.  What do you think?  I am going to have this  printed on metallic paper.  Please note the reminder not copy images on our website as they are copyrighted and belong to us.  You may contact us if you are interested in ordering one at info@geitgey.com.

To the right you can see how large the doors are by the wayOriginal Temple South Entrance Doors ©2008Geitgey.com they dwarf the door locks and knobs. I read the doors are 12 feet tall and 4 feet across.  The medallions are detailed as well quite beautiful. I plan to post more images I took in the galleries soon. The door are actually made ofwood, but here they appear to almost be made of a metal.
