We are pleased that a number of our photographs were selected to be used in the Town Planner Calendar which is circulated in the CSRA fall.  This is a great calendar with useful information about community events and coupons, too. The Southern Magnolia Blossom on the cover is one of Ruth’s floral art prints.  Ruth is currently taking an online class with an artist in New York, Patri Fehr who has a unique way of capturing flora for prints and other types of images. Check back into see her posts as the class progresses.

As you open up to January it features icy holly berries that Ruth, who is also called Gigi by associates in the art/photography world shot during an ice storm that we had a few years ago.  Lately our winters have had very cold days, but not much in the way of scenic precipitation!  March is a pasture scene with horses in rich greens and takes you into spring that Gigi also shot.  May honors our veterans with an image of a young cadet visiting the traveling Viet Nam Memorial which was here in Augusta last summer.  The memorial is truely a remarkable monument and evokes emotions to all who visit it.  We were fortunate to have it sponsored and brought here to Augusta again.  The image Ruth submitted was selected, but Warren’s image of Fireworks from the 4th of July Celebrations on the Riverwalk were featured in July.  December featured the Gate Keepers House at Savannah Rapids decked out with Christmas lights and ribbons.   We’re already planning what to submit for next year!

The images above may vary from the exact ones in the calendar.  The calendar images were all horizontal due to formating requirements.

Prints of the  images can purchased by contacting us at info@geitgey.com.  Pasture Scene with Horses

Augusta Georgia, Garden City

Posted by rgeitgey on 17th August 2008

I thought we start a post to share images around Augusta, Georgia and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

The first image is a view of the tree lined walk way at the Levee on the Riverwalk in downtown Augusta. On Saturday mornings there is a Farmers & Artisan’s Market.  Also below is the amphitheater on the Riverwalk with a view of North Augusta. Many boat races and rowing events are held here â™ on the Savannah Rive each year.

June is for Brides! This is a very special young lady to us.

Posted by rgeitgey on 1st July 2008

We watched Dessie grow up from about 5th grade, through middle school and to now a beautiful bride.  And we must tell you she is every bit as sweet as she is beautiful.

These are only a few of her lovely bridal poses from last night.   The first set of small images in the pink  (her favorite color) banner represent candid shots of the day.

We’ve posted two formal bridals which one of which is in a popular Sepia toned effect only on the bride and  not the  background (as is the 4th one in the smaller frames.)

Enjoy and please do leave a comment for Dessie.  She’ll love reading them. She will be seeing her printed previews around July 12th.  We had so much fun with Dessie during the bridal session that we have asked her to do an extra bridal session with us soon.  She’s also contemplating a TTD session after her September wedding.

These images were made at Hammond’s Ferry a lovely park with a winding paved bike/walking path that is part of the larger

greenway that winds throughf North Augusta, SC. We caught Mom and Martha (the best assistants on a bridal session we’ve ever had)

“chimping” or peaking in the camera with Dessie for a preview of the shots that were just made.
Margaret and Amy enjoy “chimping” with Dessie

Please remember these are copyrighted images and are not to be copied off the blog. Please check with the bride to order prints.

Something Different - Rusty Farm Equipment is Art

Posted by rgeitgey on 30th June 2008

Old Rusted Plow BladesI had the opportunity to go to theRusted Plow Blades Horse & Carriage Show for a brief time before a huge storm came.  I was only able to take a few images.  Here are a few I really liked displayed on canvases.  These can be printed up to 36×32 or so.  I think the rusted textured of these old blades, the tractor seat, and light play on them makes for an interesting composition. Enjoy.

Fun with Animations using Smilebox

Posted by rgeitgey on 24th June 2008

I recently discovered “Smilebox. com” which allows you to make animated slide shows (flash) from your images on their site and shared them with friends.  Today I made several shows of 3 of my favorite little girls.  I’m sharing my interview with Maddy about Frogs for you to see here.  Click here and view here answers.  When you click it will take you to the SmileBox site to view it.  Close out the tab to come back.  Comments are welcome.

There are ads on the site, but they family oriented.  You can purchase templates on the site and send and view your Smilebox slide shows without adds.  They have a zillion styles to try out.  It is fun.
