Painting Again

Posted by rgeitgey on 24th October 2008

I love this “painted” image I just did from a shot we took at the zoo of our grandson.
Digital enhancements and paintings are more than just pushing a key and running a filter. They are painted by hand, it’s just that your brushes and colors are digital. Many painters start with a photograph to work from and digital painters are no different in that respect.
I put a watermark over his face lightly. Unfortunately we have to protect our kids and work from folks who cllick and take images without asking.

Posted by rgeitgey on 13th October 2008

I thought this was a primrose.  Someone else said hibiscus.  Do any of you know? Please leave a comment on the post if you have an idea. Please don’t let the watermarks on our images distract you.  They are not on the final prints or canvases.  The original photograph is also posted here for comparison. Something Different - Rusty Farm Equipment is Art

Posted by rgeitgey on 30th June 2008

Old Rusted Plow BladesI had the opportunity to go to theRusted Plow Blades Horse & Carriage Show for a brief time before a huge storm came.  I was only able to take a few images.  Here are a few I really liked displayed on canvases.  These can be printed up to 36×32 or so.  I think the rusted textured of these old blades, the tractor seat, and light play on them makes for an interesting composition. Enjoy.

Sneak Previews of PhotoShoot this Evening~with Vintage Looks~Inland Beach Look Portraiture

Two Views of the Kids playing in the SandVintage Six Little Harms in Georgia Sand

We have dear friends who are moving to Hawaii next Monday, courtesy of the U. S. Army.

This group shot of six siblings  is my unplanned favorite of the evening.

We were lining up together for a “feet in the sand” picture when I grabbed the group shot.

Needless to getting six kids into “formation” and together doing the same thing at one time

is a challenge…especially the littlest ones. The youngest turned 2 years old a few days ago.

You can see their independent personalities in the images of them all together.

We made sure they got plenty of Georgia sand between their toes so they would “have to return to Georgia” in the future.

We  visited together at the school playground near their home and took individual pictures and many candids of

their six kids. This is just a small sampling of the zillion shots I took. I’ve been tinkering with them to create

some interesting effects including this “Vintage” look on some of them.  They sure look like they were at the

beach and not inland 200 miles!

two kids in the sand. They were so content just playing in the

sand that they were not interested in looking at that silly lady with a camera! It can be so addictive to work on

images and explore all their possibilities.Comments are encouraged! There is a link at the bottom of the posts.

The kids (and me, too) will read them and appreciate them.

The youngest girl fell down just as we started and scraped up her knees badly brooklyn_9076-medium.jpg,

so she’ll get an individual time later this week. You can see her agony here…I didn’t to leave her out of the sneak previews.

We’ll have to hurry and get some of her individually. She’s featured above in the “Vintage” look image.

Do you like to do Jigsaw Puzzles?

Posted by rgeitgey on 19th September 2007

Madey is OneI have always loved to do jigsaw puzzles. It was an activity we often did in my home growing up. I am always amazed how the little parts fit together to define an image. When doing a puzzle of a photograph it often seems that nothing is there and suddenly you place a couple of pictures and the clarity and definition emerges like magic.

At jigzone.com you can do the puzzle of the day, get timed doing it and choose other puzzles and the “cut” to challenge yourself. You can also have a puzzle made of one of your images, but do use a small file for fast loading.

The image in the post below [Madelyn is One!] is the featured in a puzzle When you go “read more” the page will load the puzzle for you to make! Please allow a few moments for the downloading of the puzzle. It is fun to do!

Enhancements~Variations~Manipulations of Digital Images

Posted by rgeitgey on 18th September 2007

Digital Image Files are Packed with Information!

Mini Collection: Madey Is One!

This week a friend who loves photography and I had a conversation on enhancements and variations in photography. Photography is capturing the light reflected off something and recording the information. Ever since photography was invented over 100 years ago photographers have enhanced and varied their “shots” in a variety of ways.In black and white film days photographers would “manipulate” in the darkroom by using different exposures, dodging and burning sections of the image on the film by using a tool to block off part of the image during exposure. Difference filters, chemicals, and papers as well as exposure times could all result different representations of the image recorded on paper of the “image” captured on the film.

The proof or first image seen on paper or today on our monitors is just one of many possible interpretations of the information recorded by the camera.
